We have two Energize groups, one for primary age children, and one for those at high school. They meet on Sunday morning during the second part of the service.
We aim to teach, inspire and build faith in our young people and help them to find their place in the church.
We have a dedicated team of volunteer leaders who meet regularly to review, plan and pray together. Training opportunities for leaders are offered regularly and very much encouraged.
We aim to use material that is relevant, fun and challenging whilst also incorporating sound teaching on the bible and our Christian faith.
We have just finished the "40 Days of Purpose" along with the whole church, and the Energize groups had their own age-related material.
We are currently using Bible-based stories and games with the younger Energize group and the YFC's "RS2" (Rock Solid 2) material with the older group.
We want our sessions to be fun and interactive! We often enhance the teaching material with games, drama, DVD clips, computer/powerpoint presentations, crafts and discussions etc.
We very much encourage our young people to be actively involved in church worship and the young people enjoy participating in services, presenting dramas eg; at Christmas and even leading their own services!
We also try to instil a strong social conscience in our young people and regularly plan social action and mission projects using BMS and our own material. Past projects include a "One World" service and lunch for South Sudan, a "Kids of Courage" project for Francis House Children's Hospice, The "Filipino Factor!" - raising awareness and funds for the Philippines, A BMS "Survivor" project raising awareness and money for Burmese refugees.
Any young people attending church are welcome to attend Energize and we aim to show God's love and be inclusive to all. 2 Tim 3:15
This is the youth group for 10 - 14 year olds of the church which meets on a Friday evening. There is a varied programme of events from nights at church playing energetic and competitive games, watching videos with a burger or pizza, to having a go at cooking. Sometimes the time is led by visitors who work in the local community. The group is also linked in nationally with Youth for Christ through their 'Rock Solid' resources.
There are also out of church events like bowling, roller-blading, trips to the cinema and firework nights.
This is a new youth group for 6 - 9 year olds launched in September 2007 with contacts made from the Holiday Club and meets on Monday evenings. There is a varied programme of events similar to the Friday Night Group but specifically appropriate for this age group. These include nights at church playing energetic and competitive games.
Every summer, towards the end of the school holidays and the August Bank holiday we hold a morning Holiday Club (between 10:30am to 1pm). Each club has a different theme. This year it was "Mission: Miracle Maker".
The programme consists of a mixture of games, music, craft, discussion, video and drama. Anyone who is interested can book a place by telephoning 0161 476 2429 and leaving your name and address so we can forward you a permission form.
The Holiday Club is for primary school age children aged 5 to 11 years. Please book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited!
In previous years we have had Holiday Clubs based around the themes of "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Ancient Egypt"and "Seaside Rock".
We have developed, with the aid of the Baptist Union of Great Britain a child protection policy which you can download here, which we follow to ensure that we are a safe place for children and young people to enjoy and grow.
