'Thursdays at One' began in April 1999, and runs in partnership with Stockport MIND, an organization which supports people with mental health problems. Stockport MIND refer to us those whom they feel would benefit from a 'hands-on' activity such as water colour painting, encaustic art (working with hot waxes) or needlecraft, which are the crafts currently being worked on within the group. We meet most Thursdays for a couple of hours, starting (as the name suggests) at one o'clock.
As well as our artistic endeavours we also enjoy each others company with a cup of tea and a chat.
Other activities we have featured include silk painting and calligraphy. Work from members of the group is always on display in the church, but has also been seen at Stepping Hill Hospital, the Stockport Art Gallery, and, in May 2008 at the Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool, during the Baptist Union Assembly in the town, and in June 2008 at a Stockport-wide exhibition of artwork of all kinds at St. George's Church, Stockport.
